Shop Card FAQs

Costco Shop Cards provide an excellent alternative to carrying cash or credit cards and here’s why: they never expire, you can recharge your card, and they come in a full range of denominations.

To purchase a Costco Shop Card, you must be a Costco member at any Costco warehouse or online at Costco.com. When ordering a Costco Shop Card online, it will be shipped (or emailed) to the address you specify in your order.

If you’d like to add a gift message, consider purchasing through Costco.com, as that particular feature is available during the checkout process. Additionally, members may reload Costco Shop Cards at any Costco warehouse.

Non-members as well as members may use Costco Shop Cards to shop at any Costco location in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico, as well as online at Costco.com. You can check your Costco Shop Card balance here.

Costco Shop Cards may be used toward a membership and merchandise.

WHAT IS A COSTCO DIGITAL SHOP CARD?

A Costco Digital Shop Card is an electronic gift card that is sent via email and redeemed using your smartphone or by bringing a printed copy with you when you visit a Costco location.

Costco Digital Shop Cards are available for purchase on Costco.com, and are issued for select promotions and a variety of other uses. Digital Shop Cards received from costco@digitalshopcard.costco. com are valid and yours to use!

Costco Digital Shop Cards may be used to shop at any Costco location or online at Costco.com and Costco.ca. At this time, Digital Shop Cards cannot be redeemed at Food Court kiosks.

ARE COSTCO SHOP CARDS REFUNDABLE?

No, Shop Cards are non-refundable.

WHERE CAN I USE MY COSTCO SHOP CARD?

You may redeem your physical or digital Costco Shop Card in any Costco within the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico or online at Costco.com or Costco.ca.

Redeeming your Costco Shop Card on Costco.com is easy! Here’s how:

  1. During check out, select Add in the Costco Shop Card section, then enter the unique Costco Shop Card number, which you’ll find on the back of your Costco Shop Card. It’s a unique number and is used to identify your Costco Shop Card. For digital Costco Shop Cards, you’ll find card numbers and the PIN in the emailed receipt.
  2. Then, enter the four digit PIN to complete the process.

If you’d like to know your Costco Shop Card’s available balance, you can view the balance via the checkout prompt.

CAN COSTCO SHOP CARDS OR DIGITAL SHOP CARDS BE REDEEMED FOR CASH?

Costco Shop Cards (physical and digital) are not redeemable for cash, except as required by law. The following states allow for cash back when your balance drops below a certain amount:

HOW CAN I CHECK MY COSTCO SHOP CARD BALANCE?

Members may check their balance at Costco.com. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the homepage, and find Costco Shop Card Balance (located near the bottom).
  2. Enter your Costco Shop Card number. This number can be found on the back of your Costco Shop Card. It’s a unique number and is used to identify your Costco Shop Card.
  3. Type in the four-digit PIN, which is also located on the back of your Costco Shop Card.
  4. Select the Check Balance button. The balance should immediately be displayed.

Costco Digital Shop Card balances can be checked the same way! Simply use the Shop Card number and PIN found in your email.

CAN I RELOAD MY COSTCO SHOP CARD OR DIGITAL SHOP CARD ONLINE?

As of now, Costco does not provide a reloading option for Costco Shop Cards (physical or digital) online. To reload your card, simply stop by any warehouse register and a team member will be happy to assist you.

Something to keep in mind: you can always check your Costco Shop Card balance on Costco.com.

WHAT IS THE DAILY SHOP CARD PURCHASE LIMIT?

Governing laws require us to limit the total value we can sell of certain gift cards and similar items to $10,000 or less per day. This limit applies to all purchases made at Costco in a single day, whether in-person, online, or both.

WHERE IS MY COSTCO SHOP CARD ORDER?

All physical Costco Shop Card orders are processed the following business day. USPS First Class Mail delivery times cannot be guaranteed but generally take 7-10 business days to arrive. If you purchased expedited shipping, you can visit FedEx to track your shipment. For further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-955-2292.

All digital Costco Shop Card orders are usually fulfilled within 2 hours, but may take up to 24 hours to process. If you need to resend the email, visit the tracking link in your Orders & Purchases.

I WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE A DIGITAL SHOP CARD FROM COSTCO, BUT IT HAS NOT ARRIVED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Occasionally Digital Shop Cards are intercepted by spam filters; please check your spam folder for an email from costco@digitalshopcard.costco.com.

If you purchased the Digital Shop Card on Costco.com, you can use the Track My Package feature in Orders & Purchases to resend the email.

If you didn’t purchase it on Costco.com and are still unable to locate it, please contact us for further assistance.

CAN I CHANGE THE VALUE OF MY COSTCO SHOP CARD OR CANCEL THE TRANSACTION?

We’re sorry, but all Costco Shop Card transactions are final. If you want to increase the Shop Card value, then a new transaction will be required.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE VIEWING MY DIGITAL SHOP CARD EMAIL. HOW CAN I ACCESS IT?

Some email systems and browsers are set to block images and pop-ups, which can prevent a recipient from receiving their Digital Shop Card. Please select the "via web browser" link, which is located in the upper right hand corner of the email. Also, check to ensure any pop-up blockers are temporarily disabled; this is typically a yellow box of text just below the browser tabs.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY COSTCO SHOP CARD IS LOST OR STOLEN?

Costco is not responsible for lost or stolen cards and unfortunately, they cannot be replaced.

If you misplaced your Digital Costco Shop Card, select the link in the original email to access it.

If you purchased the Digital Shop Card on Costco.com, you can resend the email to yourself using the tracking link in your Orders & Purchases.

If you didn’t purchase the Shop Card on Costco.com and no longer have the original email, please contact us for further assistance.

CAN I TRANSFER MY DIGITAL COSTCO SHOP CARD TO SOMEONE ELSE?

Yes. Simply forward the email to the new person.

CAN I TRANSFER THE BALANCE OF MY DIGITAL SHOP CARD TO A PHYSICAL SHOP CARD?

Yes. You can take your Digital Shop Card to your local warehouse, where you can use it to purchase a physical Shop Card of the same value.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE SHOP CARD FROM YOUR RECENT PROMOTION?

If you made an online purchase that qualifies you for a promotional Shop Card, please review your order confirmation email for the Shop Card delivery timeframe.

CAN I USE MY COSTCO SHOP CARD TO PAY FOR MY SAME-DAY DELIVERY POWERED BY INSTACART?

The Costco Shop Card cannot by used as a form of payment for Same-day Delivery powered by Instacart orders. A list of acceptable forms of payment can be found here.

If you would like to use a Costco Shop Card to pay for your order, we recommend utilizing our 2-Day Delivery option.

CAN I USE MY COSTCO SHOP CARD ON COSTCO NEXT?
